PWHT offers the transformational SKY Breath Resilience Training teaching breath-based techniques that are shown to be effective in reducing the symptoms of post-traumatic and chronic stress for veterans, service members and their families. Research shows a statistically significant reduction in the symptoms of PTS(D) that were sustained a year later, indicating the changes may be permanent. The training is composed of five consecutive sessions over 5 days. Each session is approximately 2.5 – 3 hours in duration. Attendance is required at all five sessions as each session builds on the next. PWHT is a program of the International Association for Human Values, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
The SKY Breath Resilience Training harnesses the innate healing power of the breath to initiate healing on the level of mind, body, spirit and emotions. Many graduates report feeling both reduced anxiety and depression; improved sleep quality, better emotional regulation, a sense of well-being and improved relationships with their family, friends and coworkers following the workshop. The tools presented in the workshop are easy to learn and powerful in their effectiveness. A going-home practice is taught and group follow-ups are offered.
For veterans, active military and their immediate family members (spouse, parent, child over 18 years), there is no charge to take the workshop. For service providers who themselves are not Veterans, we request a contribution of $150.
Until further notice, as a safety measure, all SKY Resilience Trainings are conducted in an on-line format. A tablet or computer with video and audio capabilities and steady internet connection are required for participation.
Unfortunately, unless you are an immediate family member of a Veteran or Military Service Member or a veteran service provider (medical or mental health), the workshop is not open to civilians.
If you have 10 – 16 veterans, service members and/or immediate family members interested in taking the SKY Breath Resilience Training, please contact info@pwht.org for more details.
Yes – PWHT offers an abbreviated 3-session training for veteran/ military service providers – please contact info@pwht.org if you are interested in bringing this program to your organization. CMEs/CNEs/CEUs will be available by the end of 2021.
At present, PWHT does not partner with practitioners offering other integrative health modalities. Our training is an immersive process with a holistic approach to healing. Introducing additional modalities in conjunction with our workshop would bring too much complexity as participants are already working to master multiple techniques during this 5-session training. PWHT does welcome partnerships with other veteran service organizations offering counseling, suicide prevention services, fitness groups and service programs veterans may engage with to volunteer and connect with community.
PWHT commends your desire to bring help and healing to the Veteran community. At this time, PWHT does not collaborate with individual practitioners but does partner with national organizations offering complimentary services to Veterans. PWHT refers veterans to partner veteran service organizations when there is a fit for the veteran. PWHT encourages you to reach out to local veteran service organizations in your area who may be happy to engage your services.
At present, PWHT’s techniques are taught to Veterans exclusively by our faculty who are certified in delivering the SKY Breath techniques to civilians and who have received additional training in military/veteran culture and working with chronic and traumatic stress. We hope to offer some limited certification training in 2022.
PWHT does not engage mental health counselors to provide counseling services to Veterans on an individual level. However, there are national organizations that might be exactly what you are seeking: Give an Hour. It offers free mental health services to military personnel through a network of providers who volunteer their services, or Stop Soldier Suicide.
